A full time position exists for an experienced, reliable person to join the small team near Braidwood, NSW as a trackwork rider/stablehand.
Braidwood is a lovely town, half way between Canberra and Bateman's Bay (an hour to each) with good proximity to the south east region tracks and Sydney. An excellent public school and easy commute to Canberra or Goulburn make this a position suitable for someone with a partner who works, and caters for children as well. We can assist with finding suitable accommodation in town.
Our growing team of young horses all live outside and work on farm, as well as at Braidwood and Goulburn tracks for gallops and education. They have excellent attitudes and we are committed to their physical and mental health as elite athletes.
This position would definitely suit someone currently riding in town for a big stable and wanting to get back to developing a relationship with the horses they ride, and have a more laid back country lifestyle. We would also consider someone with a solid pony club/dressage/eventing background that was starting out on the track rider/apprentice path.
Only confident, self-starters wanted. We are too small a team to support anyone who prefers to hide in the background. Non smoking environment and obviously no drinking or other mind altering substances to be consumed at work (or before). The buzz from flying on fast horses is enough for you.
Above award wages - negotiable with the right person - 6 mornings a week and the occasional afternoon when the farrier is coming, and trips to the races as required. Would consider someone wanting casual work, but prefer to employ full time.
