IRT seek interested parties wishing to offer their services on a casual basis to supplement our personnel caring for horses whilst undertaking mandatory Post Entry Quarantine at the Government facility in Mickleham.
Attendants must have solid “hands-on” experience of at least 2 years and be confident in their ability to take the daily rectal temperatures of any type/breed of horse (including stallions). The work involves the daily care & monitoring of horses including those tasks usually undertaken in a stable or agistment environment.
There is no accommodation provided with this position.
Attendants are employed on a casual “per assignment” basis – usually 14 days duration (or such time as determined by the Dept of Agriculture). Hours are allocated in units of 8 hours per day (including suitable breaks) and start/finish times are staggered to ensure horses are monitored for a full 24 hour period.
The horses are under strict Australian quarantine conditions during their time at the facility so Attendants are required to adhere to biosecurity procedures as set by the Aust Dept of Agriculture – IRT will organise for each attendant to attend a compulsory DA induction program prior to entry onto the facility.
Interested parties should email their application which must include a current CV together with the contact details of at least 2 references attesting to their experience and capabilities to:
Mrs Lyn Dressing
Applications close at 5pm on 30th June 2017
* Attendants are employed direct by IRT – please DO NOT contact the Quarantine Facility OR the Dept of Agriculture
* Overseas applicants MUST hold a VISA issued by the Aust authorities confirming they are able to work during their stay in Australia
